Our first meeting with Jenna & Matt was in New York where we did their engagement shoot. We spent the entire day together, strolling the streets of The Big Apple, enjoying jalapeno popsicles (which were pretty amazing!), and taking lots and lots of photos. We clicked right away and couldn’t wait for their wedding in Maryland.
The couple picked a gorgeous location for their special day – Woodmont Country Club wedding venue in Rockville, MD. And it was extra special for Alex and I as we met (and got married!) in Rockville (MoCo woot woot!).
The morning of we realized it was going to rain and, understandably, Jenna was a little upset about it. What we didn’t know back then was that it would all turn out even better than we’d hoped! We were able to do their first look outside and it was fantastic! It deserved its own blog post so definitely check it out. We also did group portraits outside and got done just when it started raining. One of the highlights of the day for me was when Jenna, happy and excited, with an umbrella in her hand, said “So it’s raining… who the **** cares?!” and we caught it on camera. It might be one of my favorite images from the day as it made the moment so special. The cover photo (and one of our favorite portfolio images) was taken in the evening and wouldn’t have been possible if not for the rain.
Jenna & Matt’s wedding also beats all records for the amount of laughter and tears. Matt started his vows with the words “Oh boy…” while taking out his handkerchief that said “No ugly crying” (it was a very thoughtful gift :D) and there was no holding back the tears during toasts and first dance.
The wedding cake was done by Matt’s sister (insta: @katemarie_28) and it was a piece of art, with hand-painted gold foil and a terrarium!
