This one was a treat for us. Kirby and Eric suggested Kingman Island for their engagement shoot, where they recently went on a date. The place is a bit tough to find due to the construction that was happening at the parking lot, plus the directions listed on the website are a bit confusing. After a few phone calls that started with “Hey, I think I’m here…”, we both parked by a construction trailer and headed up the path into the park.
Kirby’s bubbly energy and Eric’s confident smile made posing incredibly easy. Kirby and Eric were up for anything and down to experiment with weird compositions. If you have done a shoot with us, you know we are a fan of the “titanic pose”, where we mimic the moment Leonardo DiCaprio embraces Kate Winslet at the nose of the ship. When the time came for this part of the shoot, Eric, completely unprompted proclaimed “I’m the king of the world” before passionately embracing Kirby. How can we not love this job?!
Bathed in warm light and gorgeous afternoon weather, we walked around for an hour, talking about life in DC, their upcoming plans after the wedding, and the excitement to see all their friends and family in the same room. Oh and we took some photos too.
